Behind the Scenes Tour at Resort World Genting 29 August 2015

Be sure you do not miss the awesome Behind the Scenes Tour!  YES, it is so good. I have just attended it last Saturday and I was awestruck seeing the biggest laundry plant in Malaysia ! I also saw how the adults ' face beamed looking at the gigantic machines ! It is FUN for both the adult and kid. The normal price is RM28 per person and you will get a RM3 discount if you are a Genting Rewards member. It is from 215pm to 5pm.

This tour is very informative and I will share more with you. Firstly, we started the tour at "Genting International Showroom", the place where the theatrical shows take place.

This is the state-of-art wash of stage light.  We were shown some of the many buttons and how they work in an amazing way.

This is my favourite. I had a short fun time getting a turn, mixing the colours, creating the stage light (photo below)

Smoke effect on the colour light.

Each of these stainless steel plate costs RM500! It creates a pattern on the stage when the light shines through it.

Stunning LED screen

It was my first time getting up close to a Stage Sound System. Amazing!

Then we were ushered to the biggest laundry plant in Malaysia, located at the basement of First World Hotel, which currently is also the biggest hotel in world !!!

As I walked into the laundry plant, it was an epic moment to see the big machines and the moving laundry bags. There were thousands of bed sheets waiting to be washed !!!!

The two workers shoved the dirty linens onto the conveyor belt. It will then be moved into huge blue laundry bag.

The blue laundry bags will move to the washing machine and the linens will be dropped into it.

The washed lanudry will then be transferred to the dryer.

I am not going to mention the rest because I would like you to go experience it yourself !!!

After visiting the laundry plant, we were led into a ballroom to design bento and decorate doughnut.

My vegetarian bento.

And we took a break and ate the doughnut and bento. The food tasted delicious or maybe I was hungry !!!!

Horizon 50 is out last destination. Here is my past post about it. There is a slight change. The movie, Rio is replaced with Epic. And there is also a art and craft station for children.

Here is my colourful hummingbird craft.

We didn't manage to visit the SnowWorld, which is also one highlight of the tour. I heard one can see how the snow is made !!

Book the tour here. :)

Buka Puasa Buffet, Rajawali Coffee House, Awana Genting Hotel 27 June 2015

I had the best dining eperience at Rajawali Coffee House, comprises of  yummy-licious food, various, various, various choices and lively ambience.
I think it is a good combination for people who loves a hotel stay plus a great "buka puasa" buffet during the Ramadhan month.
Come have a look at some of the food choices. I am a vegetarian and so, I have asked my mom's help to describe her opinion on the food below.  She said "She was spoilt for choices and she was very happy with the food"
The group of singer and musician who entertained the diners. When they belted out "Hijau" by Zainal Abidin, mom was all ears ! That is her favourite piece of Malay song.

Assam Laksa.
One can concoct her own bowl of assam laksa with the amount of ingredient to one's liking.

I had a hard time picking the many, many choices of "kuih muih". I wish to eat them all but there are just seriously too many choices. Here is my selection. Most of them are sweetly delicious.

Chicken "Murtabak" and "Utta Apam" with curry and dhall.
Mom just gave me a thumb up with a grin, when I asked her how it was.

My vegetarian choice.
Mushroom soup, bun and butter, buttered fusilli and mixed vegetables.

I was fascinated by how the chefs could cut such beautiful designs on the watermelons. Among all the fruits that are available, I like the taste of the superb lychee the best.

This was what remained of the whole lamb, half way through the buffet. It must be delicious.

Meat ingredients with the bone soup.

Mommy said the sauces are amazing and compliment her rice and fish well.

"Kebab" was being served in sandwiches.

Healthy raw salad and ulam ulam with a few type of dressing.

Food on sticks - the "lok lok" style ( to deep it in the hot water)

Nasi Kerabu - the famous Kelantan and Trengganu dish of blue rice served with herbs and meats.

"Goreng" (fried) stuffs.

Barbeque "ikan kembong " and crab.

A selection of bread with butter.
I enjoyed every bite although it was not warm enough.

Make your own "ais kacang".

I didn't manage to try any of the ice cream flavour due to the cough I was having. :(

I saw many diners took these cold prawn and crab.

Free flow of hot and cold beverages.

And many more!

XYZ Deluxe room, Tower 2A(annex), First World Hotel, Genting Highland 27 June 2015

Tower 2A(annex) has its own sophisticated lobby. As I stepped into it, I heard contemporary music being played and it made me feel as if I am "time travelling" into the future.

One side of the walkway has full window walls with scenic mountainous and cliff view. I wish I could step on the grass outside, feel the wind and grab the passing cloud. I tried opened the only glass door but it was locked. Nevertheless, it is a good place for photo taking.

I think this part is very creative and modern-looking and I like it very much.

The see-through kitchen at the lobby caught my attention. I like to the observe the bakers rolling and shaping the dough into all shapes and sizes.

And that made me want to grab one of those freshly baked bread. They look delicious.
This place is called the "Terminal 2 cafe that opens at 730 am to midnight.

There is a mini food mart that provides food on the go like sandwiches, salad, crisp, cold drinks etc. I think this pre-packed food looks fresh.

The dining area provides complimentary wi-fi.  I like the glass area where I can sit on the high bar stool and indulge in a bag of crisp.

This is my XYZ Deluxe room # 20960.

Does the name XYZ comes from Gen(generation) X, Gen Y and Gen Z ? A question I forgot to ask Ms. Katherine during the tour briefing.

I adore the chic and vibrant yellow lines design on the wall which makes me feel bright.
The mattress is firm and the pillow is soft and fluffy. We kept all the windows opened and switched on the fan which gave us a cooling air. I had a good night sleep.

My young sibling sat happily on the bed, watching "Thunderstruck" by Kevin Durant on the 32" flat-screen TV. She said "the TV screen is clear !"

The high pressure water is cooling and refreshing.
There is a convenient corner for me to put my personal shower gel and hair shampoo. The convenient corner storage is comfortably low for my little sibling to reach the toiletries.
3-in-1 liquid soap is catered in a friendly dispenser.  Other amenities are shower cap, sanitary bag and bar soap.

There are 3 standalone cubicles for toilet, shower and wash basin. There are well divided with frosted lime green glass walls, a refreshing colour which my mom likes it a lot.
My mom can blow her hair with the hair dryer provided at the wash basin area, while my young sibling can use the shower  and I can sit peacefully at the toilet doing my business without anyone rushing me out. Cool!

I treasure the ample number of clothes hangers for us to hang our clothes up. I remember at some occassion at other hotels where we had to make do with 2 hangers !!!!  The open hanging cupboard also gives us more storage space.

There is a large laptop-sized in-room safe ! It is really fun to open and close it with a code. If my mom didn't stop me, I would have done it a hundred times !!!!

A mini fridge is just nice for guests who likes to keep their drink or food cold. Kettle with tea and coffee making facilities is in the room too.

No fret about international adapter. There is an international socket and USB access point on the wall.

What a compact and functional 170.70 sq ft room !

 Check-Out E-Kiosk.
Just slot in the room key-card ! It is as easy as ABC.

These E-Kiosk machines are developed by Genting Malaysia Berhad and manufactured in Malaysia!

"Room Hopping" at First World Hotel, Genting Highland Pahang 27 June 2015

I followed Jesie and Irene, the friendly staff of Resort World Genting to tour the five types of revamped grand rooms of Tower 1 and 2 of First World Hotel.

When I first saw the 3-star hotel building from the outside, I thought it is very colorful indeed. The part of the hotel that I like the most is, it gives a stunning mountainous view. I especially love the sight when it is enveloped by the mist. Each time I step onto the lift area, I will be drawn to the windows nearby, to look at the green mountains.

Tower 1 and 2 are the first two towers of the hotel and tower 2A( Annex) is a new addition. There are a total of seven room types which cater to all sort of needs and budget. The good news is all the rooms are gradually undergoing a facelift to serve us better.

I feel that the new look is brighter and more cheerful. Every child will be excited in exploring a new room ! And so do I.

Come join me on my "room hopping" journey. Tower 1 is our first destination. There are two types of guest room which are "World Club" and "Standard".

(1) World Club Room has a fantastic mountain view through the window wall which is just next to the beds.  Simply awesome !!  I wish I could spend the night here and I will leave the curtain and windows wide open throughout my stay. :)

1 single and 1 queen size bed

There is also a comfortable and warm 2-seaters sofa where I can snug cozily with my parrot and alien toy-buddy and enjoy the cool fresh air from outside while I watch the 32 " flat-screen TV.

The first thing I look for in a bathroom is a BATHTUB!!  No, there is no bathtub in this one but a standing shower which is just as good to play in.

There is a generous amount of amenities (cotton buds, soap bar, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shaver, shower cap, shower gel and shampoo). I think I will certainly bring home the colorful shower gel and hair shampoo as souvenir.

(2) Standard Room

I feel that the new standard room is much cleaner. Even though it is the smallest type, it is cozy, nice and dandy.
I usually stay in a standard room when I travel with my family. I used to think why my parents would choose a smaller room where I prefer a bigger one. I thought the rooms no matter at what size, is of the same price. My mom said it is because standard room is simple, basic and affordable.
Each time when we travel, I will look forward to the unveil the standard room.

I had a restful night when I stayed in a standard room at Tower 1 of this hotel three weeks ago. The mattress is firm and very cozy.

Let's move to Tower 2 now. There are three types of rooms which are "World Club", "Superior Deluxe " and "Deluxe".

(3) World Club Room . The amenities are the same as in "World Club" room at Tower 1.

one single and one queen sized bed in this room
As I entered the door, a homely living room greeted me. It has a two-seater sofas and a coffee table.

I love the divider between the living room and the bedroom which provide an additional privacy.

Lo and behold ! I finally found a BATHTUB ! I would love to use it. My little sister will scream crazy if she saw it.  And what's more, it is just next to the window that provides an awesome view of  mountains and mist !
And you know what mountains and mist can do? It makes you forget about your trouble !!

If I stayed in this room, I would spend at least an hour soaking in that bathtub, belting out a song or two and enjoying the view. Lovely lovely time.

Vanity table for ladies or gentlemen who love spending a great amount of time looking good. I am not one of them. So I will turn it into my writing table.

(4)  Superior Deluxe Room

0ne queen and single sized bed here. What a spacios room!

I love the wall that is splashed with vibrant yellow and purple. Turn the armchair around and you can sit and admire the view outside.

This is the view from the wndow wall of the room.
On a good day, I saw a raptor flown past.

A cuppa or coffee in the bedroom.
It is provided in all guest rooms except the standard room.

Hot and cold water dispenser is also provided at the hallway at Tower 1 and Tower 2.

Amenities in Superior Deluxxe

\
The many types of room are differentiate by the space sizes and also the amenities given in the room.

 (5) Deluxe Room

Clean, classy and refined

There are 3 standalone cubicles for toilet, shower and wash basin. I feel that it is helpful and time-saving, so more people can use each facility efficiently.
Superior Deluxe room has the same good structure.

The tour ended here. I had a fun time snapping away with my Ipad and I felt like a grown-up among the adults, checking out the rooms.

There are 23 units of E-Kiosk self check-in system at First World Hotel Tower 1 main lobby. Guests can check-in with their My-Kad, passport or member card.  It is my first time seeing an automated check in machine. It is very convenient and easy that even a child can do it. Checking out is also convenient with 15 units Check-out E-Kiosk here.

Tower 2A (Annex) has two types of room, XYZ Deluxe and XYZ Deluxe Triple room.

I stayed at a XYZ Deluxe room during this trip which I will write about it next.
As for XYZ Deluxe Triple room, I was told that the difference is the amenities and it offers one single bed and one queen bed.

There is a parking at the basement of the First World Hotel and it is free of charge.
